Analysis

Business Process Analysis is one of the key factors for a successful implementation. The customer assumes and expects that his processes can be optimized by using the software solution. The results of the business process analysis will be integrated in the subsequent Fit-Gap Analysis.

Fit-Gap Analysis

The Fit Gap Analysis identifies gaps in the functions of the business solution compared to the customer’s requirements. The gaps are documented and are the basis for finding resolutions, propose alternative workarounds, or suggest recommended Business Process updates based on Best Business Practices.

Each business process and requirement – analyzed in the previous step – are reviewed. The gap analysis is able to disclose the exact details of the missing functionality. Business processes that can run using the business solution can be confirmed as a Fit. Otherwise it is a gap. The configuration settings and setup option values are also documented in the Fit-Gap Analysis. For each gap, an initial recommendation is made on whether the gap should be resolved by customization of the solution, implementation of a workaround, or alteration of the Business process.

Requirements that are determined as future or out-of-scope for a project release are also captured and maintained in the Fit Gap. Such requirements can be designated as a future release.

Solution Design

The design stage is the part of the implementation where the focus is on creating a system configuration that will maximize the system benefits and ROI received by the client. The design phase starts near the end of discovery and planning, where project team selection and much of the documentation and planning has already taken place.

The implementation team will work to translate the client’s system requirements into potential configuration options. Then, they will work closely with the project team to establish those configurations and implementation strategies that will then lead into the development phase of the project.

Consulting

Business Consultants

On implementation projects, business consultants focus on ensuring that agreed-upon processes can be executed successfully in the system. In an upgrade project, a business consultant will help you develop your solution by rolling out newly added features into your system. The goal of a Step One Consultant is to maximize the benefits of your investment. They have deep understanding of specific business process flows and functions, and can analyze your specific needs and make recommendations for getting the most out of system functionality.

Application Consultants

An application consultant works under the direction of the solution architect on setting up the system. Application consultants are experts in their field and will assist you in the preparation of written procedures for system administration. They are also responsible for developing a plan for the conversion of data from your current system. Application consultants also train your key people and/or end users. They assist you with ongoing consultation when the need arises, and contribute experience by being a sounding board for possible changes in your procedures.

Technical Consultants

Our technical consultants will guide you regarding the infrastructure software solutions requires to function optimally, according to your needs. They also offer services to ensure that your backup copy can recover your environment if necessary, and perform “health checks” of the database, with proposals for additional work where necessary. The technical consultant also installs the delivery of applications and code that you receive from us.

Development

Like any development project, development does not begin with actual development work. Each member of our software development team has a wise quote on the back of their business cards. It reads, “First, solve the problem. Then, write the code.”

Development must not begin until proper planning and documentation has been done. If not, a severe waste of time and energy is sure to follow. This is why the software development process begins only after the Design phase have first paved the way.

The objective for the development process is to prepare the new system environment for data migration & validate against requirements. As part of this, the development process includes establishing a testing environment and developing user skills. Here are some steps to make that happen:

  • Customization
  • Configure the Go-live System
  • Simulate a Live Environment

Training

A key component in the implementation of any Business system is the training of personnel. Users must be effectively trained in any improved revised business processes in addition to system feature/function.

Common training programs tend to focus on general system functions. Then, employees go back to their desks and don’t know what to do.

Step One focuses training on working with the individual company personnel to make sure they know how to do their jobs, so once the new ERP system is live, employees already know what to do.

Support

Go-live Support

After the new system is live, there will continue to be a need for ongoing optimization of system use and productivity. There may be features in the system that the implementation and project teams decided to defer until after the system was live. Users may also find slightly different ways to utilize the system that help them be more productive.
